Constructed ∆PQR is attached.

Given:

  • A ∆ PQR.
  • QR=3.8cm angle Q=45°, PQ+PR=6.8cm.

To find:

  • Construct and justify.

Solution:

Steps of construction:

  1. Draw a line segment QR of 3.8 cm with the help of pencil and scale.
  2. Draw \angle XQR=45^{\circ} with the help of compass or protector.
  3. Mark an arc of radius 6.8 cm on ray QX; the point is L.
  4. Join L and R.
  5. Draw perpendicular bisector of LR.
  6. Mark the point P, where perpendicular bisector intersects the ray.
  7. Join P and R.
  8. Construction of ∆PQR is over.

Justification:

On measurement of sides of ∆PQR.

It is clear that

PQ= 3.8 cm

PR= 3 cm

Thus,

PQ+QR=6.8 cm

Hence verified.
