Construction e-Business
Why e-Business in construction? Communication between owners, suppliers, and construction managers on cost tracking, RFI, document management, collaborated design reviews, procurement, forecasting, and sustaining issues is often broken. We are building more capacity with tighter schedules. In the meantime, there are very limited human resources in the construction industry.
What's needed is a standardized construction e-Business platform for all stakeholders, enabling us to speed up the design, construction, and maintenance of facilities. The market is demanding that we operate faster and more concisely. By integrating our systems with our suppliers, we are able to reduce the time required for designing, reviewing, approving, ordering and invoicing. In addition, by allowing our computer systems to “talk” to each other, we can improve the exactness of information that is traveling between Intel and suppliers, and eventually reduce the project life cycle and total cost.
Intel Corporation is committed to taking a leadership role in developing and implementing e-Business solutions and tools. The construction side of Intel is no different. We have embarked on a number of different e-Business projects aimed at reducing construction costs, speeding up the construction project process, and enabling more efficient communication and collaboration with our suppliers.
Our initial focus has been on separate e-Business solutions that serve a niche need. As e-Business tools and companies evolve, we are seeing these tools become more and more integrated. Click here to see a pictorial view of our vision of the e-Business future. (Microsoft PowerPoint*, 43Kb)
Our goal is for all our construction suppliers to embrace the new role e-Business will play in our profession and to help make it a successful endeavor. Review the information below to learn more about some of our construction e-Business projects.
