Dams take up large areas and construction of large dams often result in acquiring land from people, mostly the poor and backward, who live in such areas. This is to be viewed as a sacrifice for the nation and to make good for this sacrifice, they should be compensated well by the government.

Government should compensate them financially for loss of their homes and livelihood. They should be resettled in other areas and provided jobs to earn an income.

Firstly, the government should provide different land and homes to the people as the replacement for their livelihood.

Secondly, it should give them assurance that dams will bring the benefit in long-term.

Thirdly, the government should also explain to them the policies related to the dam to the people who are going to get affected.
