1. Explain the different ways in which glucose is  oxidized to provide energy in various organisms?

Ans: It can be broken in three different ways:

Firstly the GLUCOSE breaks in cytoplasm and converts to pyruvate.

a) In presence of oxygen:-

#Pyruvate =>=> Carbon Dioxide + Water + Energy

b) In absence of oxygen:-

#Pyruvate =>=> Ethanol + Carbon Dioxide + Energy

c)  Partial oxygen presence(in muscle cells):-

#Pyruvate =>=> Lactic Acid + Energy

2. Can the wing of a bat and wing of a bird considered

as homologous organs? Why or Why not?

Ans: No, Because homologous refers to same structure and different use. but its not so in this case. So wing of a bat and wing of a bird can not be considered as homologous. They are Analogous organs

4. (a) In the food chain includes lion, plants and

sheep's

(i) Which transfers more energy?

Ans: Plant

(i) Which receives less energy?

Ans: Lion

(b) What is biological magnification ? Will the levels of this magnification be different at different  levels of the ecosystem?

Ans: When harmful chemicals enter in the food chain and gets concentrated at each tropic level then it is known as Biological Magnification.

                                                      OR

The increase in concentration of harmful substances in the body of the living organism at each tropic level is known as Biological Magnification.

The levels of Biological Magnification different at different levels of the ecosystem. It will be maximize at highest tropic levels and minimum at lowest tropic levels.

Ex :- In Humans; Biological Magnification is the most.
