The consumer is the one who pays something to consume goods and services produced. As such, consumers play a vital role in the economic system of a nation. Without consumer demand, producers would lack one of the key motivations to produce: to sell to consumers.

Consumers:

Consumers are defined as class of organisms that cannot produce their food, hence depends on producers for their food. Most of the animals and others are members of consumers. Consumers are again divided into three sub-classes based on their food habits.

The consumers that feed directly on producers are the primary consumers, they are essentially Herbivores. The consumers that feed on these primary consumers are secondary consumers and are essentially carnivores or omnivores. The animals which feed on these animals are tertiary consumers.
