I think so it causes due to the enzymes released after having meals. Digestion starts in mouth when we chew it. At this time, ptylin, an enzyme is released which breaks down the starch.

As we consume something the bacteria in our mouth start to produce acids to have the sugars in our food that sticks up our teeth. Thus after the meal our pH changes to 5.4-5.6 that is slightly acidic.
