Froth flotation is a process for selectively separating hydrophobic materials from hydrophilic. This is used in mineral processing, paper recycling and waste-water treatment industries. ... The development of froth flotation has improved the recovery of valuable minerals, such as copper- and lead-bearing minerals.
Hydraulic machines are machinery and tools that use liquid fluid power to do simple work. Heavy equipment is a common example. In this type of machine, hydraulic fluid is transmitted throughout the machine to various hydraulic motors and hydraulic cylinders and becomes pressurised according to the resistance present.

Froth Floatation Process:
This process is undertaken for concentration of metal in a sulphide ore. The impurities are wetted with water and sulphide ore is wetted with oil. The powdered ore is added in a tank and pine oil is added to it because sulphide ore sticks to pine oil. Then hydrogen gas is introduced in the tank which forms a froth and this froth is transferred to another tank and when the froth settles, the concentrated ore is obtained.
Hydraulic Washing :
This process is done for concentration of ore in heavy metals. The principle of the process is that there is a difference between the densities of ore and gangue (impurities). The powdered ore is spread on tables and stream of water is passed over it. The lighter particles wash away and heavier ones settle down.
Chemical Separation:
This is also called Baeyer's process. The principle of this process is that different metals react in a different way. For example Bauxite ore.
Step 1
Al2O3 + NaOH = NaAlO2 +H2O
Step 2
NaAlO2 + H2O = Al(OH)3 + NaOH
Step 3
Al(OH)3 (on heating) = Al2O3 + H2O
