Hola there,

In chemistry we use symbols to represent any element.
Like:

Hydrogen - H
Helium - He
Lithium - Li

We use this symbol due to following reasons:

1) We cannot write the name of the elements everywhere, so for easy and fast writting we use this symbols.

2) We have different symbols for different elements so that we can distinguish one element from the other element.

3) The symbols that we use represent the name of element.

Hope this helps...:)
