• While we study History what we are actually doing is tracing changes through ages and correlating it with the present era. Therefore, to ease the study of history, historians preferred to divide history in two different time.
• A 'time period' refers to a block of time or a specific time frame containing common characteristics.
• It normally span over many centuries.
• Based on the common economic and social factors seen across the time each of these periods can be broken down further into smaller timeframe called 'ages' and even smaller timeframe 'eras'.
