Explanation:

We know that,

1 week = 7 days

∴ They have to complete the work in 7 days.

Since the math can be done in unitary method as well as in proportional method. let's try both the method but follow only one method, which one you feel easier.

In unitary method:

In 28 days 360 men can construct the road.

∴ In 1 day (360×28) men can construct the road.

∴ In 7 days (360×28/7) men construct the road

                 = (360×4) men

                 = 1440 men

∴ The number of extra men would be required to finish the work _

(1440-360) men

= 1080 men.

∴ 1080 extra men would be required.

In proportional method:

Let, the total number of men would be required to complete the work in 7 days be, 'y'.

Since it is in indirect proportion  because if the number of day decreases then the number of men increases and vice versa.

∴ y:28 :: 360:7

⇒ y/28 = 360/7

⇒ y = (360×28)/7

⇒ y = (360×4)

⇒ y = 1440.

∴ The number of extra men would be required = (1440 - 360) men

                                                                                  = 1080 men

∴ 1080 men would be required extra to complete the construction of the road in 1 week.
