This question is from the chapter "The treasure within".

Hafeez Contractor passed most of his school examinations by cheating. He either copied the answers or tried his best to get his hands on the question paper so that he could know exactly what was coming in the exam. Either way, he used unfair means to clear his exams until his school's principal's words made him think and change his attitude towards academics.

The principal simply reminded Hafeez of the hardwork his mother was putting into building his future and the fact that at the SSC level, the principal could no longer "take care" of Hafeez. That is when he got serious about studies and focussed on his books. So he cleared his class 11 and 12 exams on his own, but before that he depended solely on unfair means to pass most examinations.
