contractor takes a contract to construct 800 km long road in 40 days and employs 100 workers for it. If the length of the road is increased by 160 km and has to be completed in 30 days, find the extra number of workers needed to complete the job on time.

Answer:

work completed by 100 workers in 40 days =800

so,work completed by 100 workers in one day is=800/40=20

and work completed by one worker in one day is 20/100=0.2

so number of workers to complete (800+160)work is 0.2×30(work done by one worker in 30 days)=6 so total workers required to complete the work is 960/6=160

so number extra workers required is = 160-100=60
