Small pain in my chest tells us about the conditions of a soldier and the trauma that he goes through after a war gets over. There is physical agony, emotional agony , and mental agony which he has to face. In the poem the doctor's journal we come to know about the people of Hiroshima and Nagasaki on the day the nuclear bomb was dropped. It was so sudden that the people had no time to prepare or even dress themselves up. It is written in a ballad form as a diary entry of a doctor caught in the distress

Small pain in the chest in a poem in ballad form...which contain the basic theme of the agony of soldiers, their sense of duty...which r never paid a heed by any one of us....except its a day organized to pay them a tribute..that is wat is portrayed...
In doctor's journal , the poem narrates the incident which occured in japan, how the whole humanity was depreived of human nature...and it also deals with the human goodness...which tells us how the japanese people are concerned even at that dreadful moment..
This makes a difference...
