The Christian missionaries have made significant contribution for the development of education in India. Most importantly the Jesuit colleges in India have been in the forefront of the education system in India. To mention a few- St. Xavier's College, Mumbai , St. Xavier's College, Kolkata, XLRI - Xavier School of Management, St Joseph's College, Tiruchirappalli among others. Catholic schools like Mary Immaculate, Don Bosco, Anglican Christian schools like St. Joseph’s, St Stephen’s have provided education to many many students in small towns and cities. Norwegian, Dnaish missionaries have imparted education to the socially ostracized and weaker sections of the society like the Adivasis which have paved their way forward. The contribution of the Christian Missionaries towards Indian education system is so profound and visible that a book can be written about it.
