it is known that many mathematicians play some instrument. Also there are books about music which use a lot of mathematics in order to express music. An extreme example is the book by Guerino Mazzola, The Topos of music, birkhauser, in which book all the top mathematics are used (Category and Topos Theory, Algebraic Geometry, etc.)
