Most of Shakespeare's plays, poems, and sonnets are still accessible to this day and are used for theatre productions. There's over 300 films made from as early as 1930's after Shakespeare creations. William Shakespeare didn't become well known for his writings until after his death, like most writers. 

    Shakespeare started off writing comedies or historic plays and later ended with tragedy, as in Romeo and Juliet. It is argued that Shakespeare's most famous play is Hamlet, but in popular culture Romeo and Juliet is considered his most famous play. There's over 300 films made from as early as 1930's after Shakespeare creations. You can tell that Shakespeare is a well known playwright, because, 400 years later we are still reading and performing his plays, poems and sonnets. 

    In Stratford-Upon-Avon, there is a theatre called the "Globe Theatre" which was built after Shakespeare. The Globe Theatre opened in 1599, the first play to be performed was Julius Caesar. Other plays that were performed there include Hamlet(1600-1601), Twelfth Night or What You Will(1601), Richard II( February 7th, 1601), All's Well That Ends Well(circa 1602), and Macbeth(1606). A fire cannon was shot during a play and caught the Theatre on fire, but one year later it was rebuilt.
