Conversation between a donkey and a school boy
Answers
(Once, a donkey saw a boy trudging along with a very heavy satchel. Quite shocked the donkey went up to him and the following conversation transpired)
Donkey: Hey you there! I hope you belong to Homo sapiens or are you of my breed who has learned to walk erect?
Boy: (outraged) How dare you equate me to you? Don’t you see I am a boy; a human being!
Donkey: Pardon me my dear human being! I mistook you for a donkey because of the burden you carry! Why, what is it that you carry on your shoulders?
Boy: This is my school bag; it has all the books that I read and gain knowledge to become a gentleman and to secure a career!
Donkey: It is very strange! If by carrying a burden one becomes a gentleman, I and my species carry heavier burden than you do! Does it mean I am a better gentleman? How stupid is your species?
Boy: Hey, don’t talk nonsense. My burden is different than yours. You carry bricks, cement, furniture, fruit and vegetables. I carry books!
Donkey: (shocked) Well, my dear boy, burden is a burden! Whether it is books or bricks!
Boy: (thinking) You are right. Even I don’t like it; but I have to carry it!
Donkey: There is a solution to it. Why don’t you use soft books? Or keep two sets of books—one for home and the other for school in your lockers? I would surely have made these arrangements had I been a human being with a brain!
Boy: (Surprised) Wow! What an idea! I will ask my parents and teachers to provide me either soft books or two sets of books. Thanks donkey.
Donkey: You are welcome!
