Subhas Chandra Bose is portrayed warts and all in this striking documentary. His singular love for his nation comes through like a clarion call of purpose and mission. Who but us moderns with perfect hindsight could condemn him for seeking help from what would turn out to be the most murderous regimes in the history of man, Hitler's Nazi Germany and Hirohito's Japan, with the possible exceptions of Stalin and Mao? Bose most likely had no idea of Hitler's depravity, and was totally occupied with freeing India from the British, who should've known better and released their colonies ever since America kicked their butts with help from France beginning in 1776, but old imperial habits die hard, right? I actually wish America had leaders like Bose now, willing to travel by U-Boat in rough seas for the sake of his country while puking his guts out! Bravo to the film producers! The respectful presence of Bose's articulate and cultivated daughter is icing on the cake.
