The universities of Odisha and Maharashtra will begin a cultural exchange programme as part of the 'Ek Bharat Shresht Bharat' programme initiated by Union ministry of human resource development to instil a sense of India as one nation in students. As part of the programme, 13 universities from Odisha has been tagged with 13 universities from Maharashtra. They will interact and coordinate cultural exchange programme among each other. The programme that has already being planned will continue till March 2020, official sources said.The Government of Maharashtra has approved the agreement and tagged the universities accordingly. They have appointed a nodal officer, who will coordinate the activities between the universities of both the states. This is being done to instil the one nation agenda in the students," a higher education department official said.In a letter, higher education department's deputy secretary Surkha Sundari Swain said the programme coordinators of national service scheme (NSS) bureaus of the institutions will act as the nodal officers to provide cultural exchange and other activities between the universities of both the states.
According to the list, Savitribai Phule University, Pune, has been paired with Utkal University while Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathawada University, Aurangabad, will have cultural exchange programme with Sambalpur University and Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj University, Nagpur, has been paired with Ravenshaw University.Similarly, Kavi Kulguru Kalidas Sanskrit University, Nagpur, is tagged with Shri Jagannath Sanskrit University, Mumbai University with Fakir Mohan University, North Maharashtra University with North Orissa University, Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Technical University with BPUT and Shivaji University, Kolhapur, with VSSUT, Burla, among others.The universities will organise exposure visits as well as other related programmes where the students from the institutions will be gathering in one place to share their culture. The students of Maharashtra universities will be watching Odia movies and listen to folk songs while the Odia students will do vice versa," an official added.
