When two pulses come in contact with each other, two events are possible.

1. They get in phase with each other, such that the resultant pulse will have wavelength of either one of the pulses.

2. They get out of the phase, such that the resultant pulse will have a wavelength of least value or minimal value.

The energy of the pulse also depends on the wavelength of the pulse, such that it will be higher or lower according to the corresponding pulse and the resultant pulse is always conserved.
