=> Aniline can be converted to chlorobenzene in two steps.

=> step 1 : aniline to diazonium salt (C6H5N2+Cl-)

=> step 2: diazonium salt to chlorobenzene (C6H5Cl)

=> aniline can be converted to diazonium salt by reaction with NaNO2 + HCl at 0≈5°C and 1 atm pressure.


=> diazonium salt can be converted to Chlorobenzene by reaction CuCl +HCl.
