Heat acetic acid with NH3 to get CH3CONH2
Then reduce it with LiAlH4 to get ethyl amine(CH3CH2NH2)

Step 1 : Reaction with ammonia.

The reaction of acetic acid with ammonia forms ammonium salts of carboxylic acid which on heating undergoes elimination to produce amide as acetamide.

Step 2 : Reaction with lithium-aluminium hydride.

The reduction of acetamide with lithium-aluminium hydride gives ethylamine as a product.
