1) React ethanol with thionyl chloride (SOCl2) /Pyridine to get chloroethane
C2H5OH -------(SOCl2/Py)---> C2H5Cl + SO2 + HCl
(2) Chloroethane reacts with Sodium acetylide to give But-1-yne
C2H5Cl + Sodium Acetylide ------------> But-1-yne + NaCl
