let x = 2.6888888...... ---------->(1)

So, 10x = 10(2.68888......)

=> 10x = 26.8888888........ ------>(2)

Subtracting eq 1 from eq 2

10x - x = 26.88888.... - 2.688888

=> 9x = 24.2

=> x = 24.2/9

=> x = 242/90

=> x = 121/45

So, $\tt 2.6\bar8 = \dfrac{121}{45}$
