2-methyl-1-propene can be converted into 2-chloro-2-methyl propane by following reaction -
React 2-methyl-1-propene with hydrochloric acid ( HCl ) , 2-chloro-2-methyl propane is formed.
- The reaction is an example of is Markovnikov addition in which when the HX acid is reacted to alkene or alkyne , the halide ion ' X ' is added to the more alkyl substituted carbon and the hydrogen is added to the less substituted carbon atom.
