How to convert acetic acid to methane?
Just react acetic acid with soda lime. The reaction is called decarboxylation. Methane gas is liberated as a result of the reaction.
Soda lime is a mixture of NaOH and CaO.
Reaction:
CH₃COOH + NaOH -----CaO-----> CH₄ + Na₂CO₃
