➡Carboxylic acid reacts with SOCl2 (thyonil chloride) Or PCl5 Or PCl3 And gives Acid Chloride.

For First Equation:-

➡ Remove one chlorine atom from SOCl2 And -OH from CH3COOH.

Now oxygen of OH is react with S of SOCl2 and give SO2, H react with Cl and make HCL(hydrochloric acid), CH3CO react with Cl and make CH3COCl.

For Second Equation:-

➡ 3 Mole of Cl remove from PCl3 and 3OH remove from 3CH3COOH. 3Cl react with 3CH3CO and product is 3CH3COCl. P react with 3OH and product is H3PO3.

For Third Equation:-

It same as second equation but PCl5 place of PCl3.and second products Not H3PO3 but product is POCl3 and HCl.

Equation in given picture.

➡ For Acid chloride's manufacture first choice is SOCl2. because In this equation Second product is SO2 and HCl. and it can remove safely. and acid chloride make more pure.
