Step 1:

C2H2 + H2SO4/HgSO4 -------> CH3CHO
Acetylene when treated with sulphuric acid in presence of Hg first forms a vinyl alcohol which then tautomerises to acetaldehyde.

Step 2:

CH3CHO + K2Cr2O7 --------> CH3COOH
The acetaldehyde is then oxidised to get acetic acid.
