Express it in joules. The commercial unit of electric energy is kilowatt-hour (kWh). One kilowatt hour is defined as the electric energy consumed by an appliance of power 1000 wattin one hour. The electrical energy used in households, industries and commercial establishments is expressed in kilowatt hour

1kilowatt-hour = 1killowatt for 1hour

1kilowatt-hour = 1000watt for 1hour

But: 1watt = 1joule/1sec ... . .(1)

So equation (1) can be rewritten as:

1killowatt-hour = 1000joule / second for 1 hour and 1hour = 60 * 60 sec

1kwh = 1000joule /sec *60*60 sec

1kwh= 3600000 joules or (3.6*106j)
