Explanation:

Dehydration with conc. H2SO4

When concentrated sulphuric acid is added to Ethyl alcohol and the mixture is heated upto 170°C, it causes dehydration of Ethyl alcohol to give ethene.

C2H5OH → C2H4 +H2O.

Ethanol can also be dehydrated by Al2O3 at 350°C.

C2H5OH →C2H4+H20.

Hope it'll helps you.

.Ethanol can be dehydrated to give ethene by heating it with an excess of concentrated sulphuric acid at about 170°C. Concentrated phosphoric(V) acid, H3PO4, can be used instead. The acids aren't written into the equation because they serve as catalysts
