Answer:

5/6 to 30/36

7/9 to 28/36

11/12 to 33/36

Step-by-step explanation:

To convert the fractions into like fractions, I want to find out what the smallest common multiple.

Multiples of 6: 6, 12, 18, 24, 30, 36...

Multiples of 9: 9, 18, 27, 36...

Multiples of 12: 12, 24, 36...

The smallest common multiple of all three numbers is 36, so, 36 will be are common denominator for all three fractions.

To turn 5/6 into a fraction with a denominator of 36, I have to find out how many times the current denominator goes into 36, then multiply the numerator by that number. Since 6 goes into 36 6 times, I will multiply 5 by 6 to get the new numerator, 30. This means that our new fraction should be 30/36.

To turn 7/9 into a fraction with a denominator of 36, I have to find out how many times the current denominator goes into 36, then multiply the numerator by that number. Since 9 goes into 36 4 times, I will multiply 7 by 4 to get the new numerator, 28. This means that our new fraction should be 28/36.

To turn 11/12 into a fraction with a denominator of 36, I have to find out how many times the current denominator goes into 36, then multiply the numerator by that number. Since 12 goes into 36 3 times, I will multiply 11 by 3 to get the get numerator, 33. This means that our new fraction should be 33/36.

Concept

We will first calculate the LCM of the denominators and then we will make the denominators in each term as the LCM by multiplying and dividing by the suitable numbers in each term.

Given

The given fractions are as follows, 5/6,7/9,11/12.

Find

We have to calculate the fraction alike.

Solution

Since we have the sequence of fraction number as follows,

5/6, 7/9, 11/12

The denominators are 6, 9, 12.

Now let’s calculate the LCM of 6, 9 and 12, we have

6=2*3

9=3*3

12=2*2*3

Here, LCM=2*3*3*2*2=36

Therefore, we have to multiply and divide by 6 in the first fraction, multiply and divide by 4 in the second term and multiply and divide by 3 in the third term.

We get

30/36, 28/36, 33/36

Hence the similar fraction comes out to be 30/36, 28/36, 33/36.
