To convert : fraction $\frac{31}{3}$ and $\frac{47}{10}$  into mixed fraction.

Solution :

• Mixed fraction is used to express improper fractions by simplifying it to whole units and a smaller overall fraction.  

• Here, numerator is greater than denominator therefore on dividing we get decimal number as answer. Ignoring numbers at right side of decimal .We get whole number.

• Then , find new numerator for the fraction part of a mixed fraction.

• To get new numerator we multiply the above obtained whole number by original denominator  .  

• Now, subtracting obtained answer from original numerator .

• After simplifying we put whole number with new numerator and and original denominator.

1.  $\frac{31}{3} = 10.33$

             $= 10 \times 3 = 30$  

       Now , subtracting above number from original numerator  $31-30 = 1$

       Mixed fraction :  $10\frac{1}{3}$

    2.  $\frac{47}{10} = 4.7$  

        $= 4\times 10 = 40$

        Now, subtracting above number from original numerator $47 - 40 = 7$

        Mixed fraction : $4\frac{7}{10}$  

Hence, mixed fractions are  $10\frac{1}{3}$  and $4\frac{7}{10}$  .
