- Methyl magnesium bromide is treated with propanone to get an adduct which on further hydrolysis gives 2-methylpropan-2-ol.
CH3-Mg-Br + CH3-CO-CH3 + H2O --> HO-C(CH3)3 + Mg(OH)Br
* Methyl magnesium bromide is known as Grignard reagent.
