It basically means that a child or an adult should not be dependent on anything from starting itself they should be self dependent and thus he wants the child to inherit this in himself and do not cry for his ball. He thinks that the if the boy cries for such a little thing than moving forward in his life he will have to loose many things. According to the poet we should not cry for the things that went away, indeed we should see the things that are with us at present
