-23℃=273+(-23)

=273-23

=250K

450℃=273+450

=723K

Answer:

Converted the following temperatures into the Kelvin scale.

a) -23^0C = 250.15K

b) 450^0C = 723.15K

Explanation:

  • Let T_Kbe the temperature on the Kelvin scale and T_Cbe the temperature on the Celcius scale,
  • we have the expression for

       converting a temperature on the Celcius scale to the temperature on the Kelvin scale is as follows,

        T_{K}=T_{C}+273.15         ...(1)

  (a)    In question, it is given that,

          T_C = -23^0C

          Substitute the above value into equation (1)

          T_{K}=-23+273.15

                  =250.15K

    (b)    In question, it is given that,

             T_C = 450^0C

             Substitute the above value into equation (1)

            T_{K}=450+273.15

                  =723.15K
