u = -16cm
v = ?
By lens formula ,
1/f = 1/v - 1/u
or, 1/v = 1/f + 1/u = 1/20 - 1/(-16) = 1/20 + 1/16
=36/320
or, v = 320/36 = + 8.89 cm
Since 'v' is positive ,
(1) the image formed is :
BEHIND THE OBJECT / ON THE SANE SIDE OF THE MIRROR .
(2) the nature of object ultimately is :
VIRTUAL AND ERECT .
