copper and aluminium are usually employed for electricity transmission

It is so because they have very low resistance. So while transmission over long distances, electricity is not dissipated in form of heat and energy is, hence, not wasted. Actually aluminium is more preferential than copper as such it is lighter

Copper and alluminium are good conductors of electricity and heat. Copper is more conducting and preferrable than alluminium. In electric wires, we notice copper wires inside. They are used for providing electricity.

Klarin: it is not talking about domestic wiring only. electrical transmission over large distances can be achieved better with aluminium than in copper.
Naefi: but aluminium is the best conductor of heat only. it conducts electricity but not as well as copper.
Naefi: but being a non metal graphite conducts electricity very very well....... its a fact....
Naefi: check with net if u have doubt......
Naefi: anyways.... ur thoughts differ from mine.... thats the reason for the misunderstanding.....
Naefi: Graphite is an electric conductor, consequently, useful in such applications as arc lamp electrodes. It can conduct electricity due to the vast electron delocalization within the carbon layers (a phenomenon called aromaticity). These valence electrons are free to move, so are able to conduct electricity.
Naefi: reason for graphite conducts electricity....
Naefi: Copper is better than aluminum in electrical wiring because..? Copper is better than aluminum because it has a conductivity of 97% compared to 62 % for aluminum. Copper is also and safer, because, its contacts when splicing will remain conducting even for a long time, while in aluminum, splices specially if done copper to aluminum will oxidize after a period, resulting to overheating and electrical fires. Aluminum building wiring is not yet allowed in many
Naefi: ......not allowed in many Asian cities.(continuation) thats the reason y i answered so...
Naefi: thanx
