as they are reactive in nature and can cause corrosion to these kind of utensils therefore to protect it from getting damage it is tinned (a thin layer of tin to prevent corrosion)

copper and brass utensils should be tinned because tin is an alloy which is highly resistant to corrosion and do not get tarnished. whereas brass and copper are reactive metal. they get corroded easily when exposed in atmosphere. they also react with acid. that's why they copper and brass utensils are coated with tin.
