copper lies below hydrogen in the metal reactivity series and therefore is not a very reactive metal

Answer:

Copper does not react with dilute hcl even on heating but react with sulphuric acid. As copper is less reactive then hydrogen therefore it will not liberate hydrogen gas to formally acid like Hcl.
