Copper has all the properties of metals such as Ductility, Malleability,Sonority and Conductivity but Nitrogen doesn't shows such properties and therefore considered to be non metal.

Copper is a metal because it is ductile and malleable meaning..it can be drawn into wires and beaten into sheets. It is present in the transition metals of periodic table which is considered as metals.

Nitrogen's atomic number is 7 so last energy shell has 5 electrons. There is a tendency to donate electrons. This feature that distinguishes non-metals from metals. The other reason is that it is in gas form and moleculer form at room temperature and it is also present in 15th group of periodic table i.e. non metals section.
