Copper is considered as a element because it is made up of only one element an element is a atom with is made of same kind. and copper sulphate is considered as compound because it is made of different types of atoms.

Copper is considered an element because it’s molecule Carries only copper atoms, whereas in Copper sulphate,the molecule is a compound because it contains both sulphur and copper atoms.
