Copper is not used to prepare Hydrogen by the action of dilute Hydrochloric acid or dilute Sulphuric acid on the metal because copper doesn't form hydrogen with these acid as it is below hydrogen in electrochemical series due to which it froms water .

On action of HCl or h2so4 on copper, oxides are formed.
