Answer: During metallic conduction, the chemical properties of copper are intact as it does not undergo chemical decomposition. Since, the flow ofelectricity only produces heat and energy and no new products are formed copper metal is thus a good conductor of electricity but is a non electrolyte.Mar 21, 2017

For conduction of electricity we need ions separated from each other which can migrate. In solid state the ions of Cu2+ and (SO4)-2 ions are attracted to each other the basic property of solid state , and hence cannot migrate therefore no current conducted. But when the same solid is added to water the ions ger separated and can migrate and conduct electricity.
For example, copper is used for electrical wiring because it is a good conductor of electricity. Metal particles are held together by strong metallic bonds, which is why they have high melting and boiling points. The free electrons in metals can move through the metal, allowing metals to conduct electricity.
