Economically speaking, with only 5% additional conductivity vs copper, it can’t compete. On the spot market, silver is 5x more expensive than copper. That, plus the issue of tarnishing. Silver tarnishes very quickly in air (remember polishing your mother/grandmother’s silver?) compared to copper which also tarnishes but more slowly and is easily mediated with coatings. Then there’s the issue of malleability and ductility. As a metal gets thinner, its ability to handle lots of bending or stretching becomes more of an issue and once again, copper is better than silver, much better.
So, bottom line…silver as a conductive wire just doesn’t make sense when there’s cheaper, better alternatives for making wire.
One final thought…I actually searched for an application where silver was prefered (as a wire) and couldn’t find any…none!

copper is a good conductor of electricity and it is used for connecting wires has a very low electrical resistance . Being a good electrical conductor, it provides a good contact surface, is ductile and it is not too expensive.
