Copper is malleable,ductile and good conductor.
Used mainly in electric cables, electronics and chemical industries.
Balaghat mines in Madhya Pradesh produce 52 per cent of India's copper.
And also Singhbhum district of Jharkhand and Khetri mines in Rajasthan.

- Metal copper is a good conductor of electricity and is used in electrical machinery, wires, and cables. In India about total reserves of the copper is about 712.5 million tones and equals to about 9.4 million tonnes.
- Most of the small deposits occurs in the Gujarat, the Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, the Uttar Pradesh, Sikkim, and the Meghalaya, Maharashtra, and the West Bengal.
- Larger deposits occur in the states of the Singhbhum district in Jharkhand, the Balghat district of the Madhya Pradesh and the Jhunjhunu and the Alwar districts of the Rajasthan.
- The Madhya Pradesh is the largest producer followed by the Karnataka and the Rajasthan and accounts for about 40% of the shares of the copper in India. Followed by the state of the Jharkhand where the Singhbhum district has provided with 58.044 million tones of copper.
