when two or more element combine chemically or there bonds break and new chemical bonds are form the compound is form .

so ,

Copper sulphate is having formula

{CuS{O}_{4}}

it have Copper and sulphate ( sulphur and oxygen ) that means it is having three elements .

while diamond is an allotrope of carbon it is only made of carbon the only elements which constitute in diamond formation hence diamond is elements and copper sulphate is compound .
