Required Answer:-
Why copper sulphate is a pure susbtance?
- Copper sulphate is a compound made up of elements like copper, sulphur and oxygen in fixed ratio.
- The substances cannot removed using physical methods. They can be separated by chemical methods only.
- The atoms of elements are bonded by different chemical bonds to form a molecule of copper sulphate.
Why copper sulphate solution is a mixture?
- Copper sulphate solution = Copper sulphate + water.
- Copper sulphate is dissolved in water and they can be separated using crystallization process (a physical method).
- Since Copper sulphate is soluble in water, they form a homogeneous solution where the copper sulphate thoroughly mixes with water

Copper sulphate solution is regarded as a mixture because whenever solution come in the name of compound/mixture then there are two substance dissolved in it. The first is the solvent and second is the solute in it. While copper sulphate itself is a pure substance because the copper sulphate has copper and water and sulphur in fixed ratio i.e 5:1. 5 molecules of water and 1 molecule of copper and sulphur. It also can be broken down by passing electricity and through chemical processes. So, it is considered as a pure substance.
