Coromandel Fishers Analysis The poet asks the freedom fighters (the fishermen) to wake up as the success i.e. independence of India is quite near. The wakening skies pray to the morning light, symbolises the land which is welcoming the independence after being in the darkness of the slavery for so long.

The speaker calls the sleeping fishermen to wake up and gather the nests to catch the fish. The poem describes the adventurous life of fishermen of Coromandel Coast with lots of imagery. The poetess is suggesting the fishermen life under cool shade is very attractive but go into the sea to catch the fish.
