How can we correct sentences:

• The subject and verb must both be singular or plural in order for a phrase to be grammatically correct. To put it another way, the subject and verb must both be in the same tense. The verb must be plural if the subject is plural (and vice versa).

• The parallel structure of a sentence refers to how closely the shape of distinct portions of a sentence matches. When there are several phrases or descriptions in a sentence, the structure and wording of those phrases or descriptions should be consistent.

• The parallel organization is important because it makes it easier for the reader to follow the writer's thought process.
