Weathering causes the breaking down or dissolving of rocks and minerals on Earths surface. Some common agents of weathering are water, acids, salts, plants, animals, ice and changes in temperature. Now the process of erosion comes in. Once a rock has been erosion transports the bits of rock and minerals away. This is a slow process and ultimately it leads to the formation of loose soil in a period of few years.
